A wildfire near Dolores on the upper end of Dry Canyon, south of the Salter Y area, has burned an estimated 22 acres since Tuesday evening, according to Dolores District Ranger Nick Mustoe of the San Juan National Forest.

As of Tuesday evening, the fire is 0% contained. Two Durango Interagency Fire Dispatch engines, a crew from the Colorado state resource Grizzly Peak and a helicopter are attacking the fire, which has shown some uphill runs out of the canyon but is still entirely on San Juan National Forest land. Mustoe said more resources are on the way.

Mustoe said no structures are threatened, no injuries are reported and no evacuations have been issued. He asked the public to give crews space to work.

Firefighters plan to remain on scene until the blaze is fully contained and hope to make progress in the next few days, with rain expected Friday. Current windy conditions have affected suppression efforts.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
