Fight between brothers leaves one dead in Farmington

Man admits to stabbing in plea agreement

A violent night of drinking resulted in two brothers fighting to the death of one.

The Farmington Office of the FBI reported Vern A. Anderson, 40, of Fruitland, admitted to an involuntary manslaughter charge in connection to the death of his brother.

Anderson entered a plea agreement on May 17, 2022, and was sentenced June 7 to two years in federal prison.

Anderson admitted to drinking heavily with his brother on Sept. 26, 2021, when the two got into a physical fight at a home in Nenahnezad.

“Anderson stabbed his brother in the back, chest and head a total of five times,” court records stated. “(The brother) suffered multiple defensive wounds on his hands and arms in the violent attack.”

The man died at the scene.

Once released from prison, Anderson was ordered to serve three years of supervised parole.
