President's birthday party to be held here
Montezuma county people are invited to attend President Franklin D. Roosevelt's big birthday party.
That's right - Memorial hall, Dolores; Tuesday night, Jan. 30.
Under auspices of the Parent Teacher's association at McPhee.
There will be dancing and a general big time. And everyone who can get here - whether you live in Montezuma county or not - is invited to attend. Tickets will be one dollar. All the proceeds will go to the endowment of a hospital for treatment of infantile paralysis and to establish at Warm Springs, Ga., a national therapeutic center for the fight against this dread disease.
Civic organizations, service clubs, Elks, K. of C., Odd fellows, K. of P., Eagles, Masons, Legion posts and many other organizations are co-operating to make this the greatest birthday party in the history of the world.
All you have to do is buy a ticket, for a dollar, And then go to the hall next Tuesday and have more than your money's worth of fun and dancing.
Aside from being president of the United States Mr. Roosevelt is also president of the Warm Springs foundation and he will administer the work of establishing the hospital.
A six-piece orchestra will supply music for the dance and refreshments will be served in the hall.
"I believe it is a glorious thing to be able to honor the president and at the same time strike a blow at the dreadful scourge of infantile paralysis, which is the enemy responsible for half the crippled people in the country today." Said Mrs. Grace Speck, president of the McPhee P. T. A. organization.
