Democracy is participatory, nobody can take that away

I’m glad to pay taxes – my fair share. Paying taxes ensures that essential services continue and that my town, county, state and country function for my fellow citizens.

I love knowing that I participate in a democracy and carry on those tenets and traditions. I am proud to be an American and everything that stands for.

I love the symbolism of my country’s flag. I look at America as constantly changing and growing and being human. I love supporting the downtrodden when I have so much to give – not just money. I love different cultures and ethnic groups, so many in my own country. I celebrate differences.

I took it for granted that this great ethos called democracy was not going to be eaten and shat on from within.

Protest, sign petitions, contact your representatives, join a voter drive, read the news even if it’s depressing – stay informed, talk to others, be aware, be discerning, boycott where and when you can.

Democracy is participatory. Nobody can take that away from us. I am optimistic that authoritarianism can’t win our hearts and minds and that we can destroy this creeping weed. We got this.
