Deadline for town board race near

Five seats, mayoral job up for grabs

Calling all inspired public servants of Dolores.

Five town board seats plus the mayor position are up for grabs in the April 5 election. It will be by mail ballot.

Interested candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have been living within Dolores town limits for at least one year.

Pick up a nomination petition at town hall. Candidates are required to obtain 10 signatures from citizens who live in town and are registered to vote.

Because there are five board seats open, individual citizens can sign no more than five nomination petitions.

Because there is only one mayoral position, an individual citizen can only sign one nomination petition for mayor.

Nomination petitions must be turned into town hall by Monday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m.

The election may be cancelled if the amount of candidates running does not exceed the positions available. In that case, the candidates would be awarded the seats.

The open trustee seats are for three 4- year terms and two 2-year terms. The mayor position is for a 2-year term.

The town board holds meetings twice a month. The regular meeting is the second Tuesday of each month, and the workshop meeting is the fourth Monday of the month. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m.
