Update: U.S. Highway 491 reopened after crash

Incident occurred in snowy conditions near Yellow Jacket

U.S. Highway 491 near Yellow Jacket was reopened at 3:45 p.m. following a one-vehicle crash around 2 p.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The crash involved a Ford F150 pickup pulling a horse trailer with horses inside, said Trooper Josh Lewis. There were no reported injuries to driver and passenger, and no reported injuries to the horses.

Information was not available on the cause of the crash. The vehicle had to be towed, according to Trooper John Trentini.

The highway had been closed at mile marker 43 in both directions, according to the Montezuma County Sheriff Emergency Alert System.

The crash took place in the 23000 block near the intersection of County Road Z. Pleasant View Fire Department and the Colorado State Patrol responded to the incident.
