Cowboy ministry returns to Mancos

Cowarts served from 1994 to 1999

Mesa Trails Cowboy Church in Mancos welcomes Leroy and Reda Cowart as pastors.

Leroy and Reda Cowart served at the church at 221 Menefee St. from 1994 to 1999. Since that time, they have traveled extensively as full-time cowboy ministers in the Great Basin area of Oregon, Nevada and Northern California as Slash Lazy U Ministries.

Many of Leroy Cowart’s sermons include object lessons using cowboy gear and tack.

Recently he brought his horse to church as he spoke on “Carrying the Bit.” Reda Cowart leads music from the piano with a Southern Gospel style.

Everyone has an open invitation to join the Cowarts and the congregation at Mesa Trails Cowboy Church – where “Christ Holds the Reins.”

Service time is Sundays at 10:30 a.m., with Sunday School starting in October at 9:30 a.m.
