Court hears armed robbery case

Shelby Mudgett, 25, address unknown, was sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation with an educational stipulation in connection to an armed robbery in July. She was also ordered to a substance-abuse evaluation and testing.

Officials said Mudgett was forced to commit the offense by a co-defendant, Nicole Hill, 24, address unknown. She failed to appear for a recent plea hearing in connection to the case. A no-bond arrest warrant had previously been issued.

Thief gets prison term

Jeremiah Jim, 26, of Shiprock, was sentenced to 18 months in prison with credit for time served after entering a plea deal in connection to a May aggravated motor vehicle theft incident.

Court sets spring trial dates

Baltimore Rudi, 53, of Cortez, entered a not-guilty plea in connection to a May incident that includes burglary, theft, trespass and drug possession charges. A three-day jury trial was set for April 4.

Robert Espinoza, 45, of Cortez, entered a not-guilty plea to violating bond conditions in connection to a July incident. A two-day trial was set for April 4.

Richard Perez, 61, address unknown, entered a not-guilty plea in connection to a September incident involving a weapon. A two-day trial was set for April 18.

Nicholas Bancroft, 24, of Cortez, entered a not-guilty plea on multiple charges of menacing and assault in connection to an October incident. A four-day trial was set for April 18.

Anthony Benoit, 50, address unknown, entered a not-guilty plea to bribing a witness in connection to a September incident. A three-day trial was set for April 18.

Stephen Chevalier, 31, of Cortez, entered a not-guilty plea on charges of assaulting police in connection to a July incident. A four-day trial was set for April 18.

Roy Neskahi, 41, of Cortez, withdrew from a plea deal in connection to a February drug possession arrest after the court opposed the proposed sentencing stipulation. A two-day trial was set for May 2.

Mariah Ben, 18, of Shiprock, entered a not guilty plea in connection to an April incident that includes burglary, trespass, assault and child abuse charges. A three-day trial was set for May 2.

Termain Yazzie, 25, of Cortez, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges in connection to an October incident involving assault with a deadly weapon. A five-day trial was set for May 2.

John Crawford, 26, of Mancos, pleaded not guilty to menacing, harassment and child abuse charges in connection to a July incident. A two-day trial was set for May 2.

Shona Fish, 42, of Cortez, was remanded into custody on an arrest warrant that was issued after she tested positive for cocaine use while out of custody in connection to a Halloween drug trafficking incident involving methamphetamines. A two-day trial was set for May 2.

Court weighs plea deals

John Jones, 30, of Cortez, entered a plea deal in connection to an August drug possession incident. The agreement includes an open sentence and a drug court screening. Sentencing was set for Feb. 2.

Giovanni Menendez, 20, of Aneth, pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers in separate August criminal mischief incidents involving a manager at Sonic. The plea deal includes an open jail sentence and 24 months of probation. Sentencing was set for Jan. 21.

Viola Rosales, 32, of Cortez, was ordered to be screened for drug court after pleading guilty to an October drug possession incident. Sentencing was set for Jan. 21.

Marisero Pena, 33, of Ignacio, pleaded guilty to DUI while driving with a revoked license in November. The plea deal includes an open sentence and probation. Sentencing was set for Jan. 21

Emily Frizzell, 25, of Cortez, entered a plea deal in connection to a September drug trafficking incident. The agreement includes a deferred judgment and open probation sentence. Sentencing was set for Jan. 19.

Court revokes probation

Curtis Benally, 30, of Cortez, pleaded guilty to violating probation in connection to a 2012 forgery case. A felony conviction was entered after Benally failed to abide by the terms outlined in a deferred judgment.

Judge issues bench warrant

Rashaundal Comb, 32, of Round Rock, Ariz., had a bench warrant issued for his arrest after failing to appear in connection to a September DUI charge.
