Cortez to shut off water Monday for Seventh Street water line project

Water will be unavailable for nearby homes for most of the day

As part of the Seventh Street water line project, the city of Cortez will replace a water valve at South Chestnut and West Seventh streets on Monday, May 11. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or until the work is finished, water will be unavailable in a large section of nearby homes.

Residents in the affected areas are encouraged to fill water containers prior to the water shut off to use during the outage.

  • South Chestnut from Fifth Street south to the end of the street (past West Andrew Lane)
  • All residences west of South Chestnut from West 10th Street south
  • All homes south of Seventh Street between South Chestnut and South Ash streets
  • Both sides of South Seventh Street from South Chestnut to South Ash Street
