System will come into effect in September

The Cortez Public Library plans to roll out a new catalog system, AspenCat, on Sept. 24. The modern platform is designed to streamline how patrons search for and request materials.

AspenCat has been implemented by libraries in Mancos and Dolores. Library accounts and Libby accounts for e-books and eAudiobooks will remain unaffected, and patrons will gain access to CloudLibrary, an additional eMaterial platform.

“We’re thrilled to bring AspenCat to Cortez,” Library Director Beth Edson said in a news release. “This change will improve the patron experience and connect our community to an even larger collection of materials, both physical and digital.”

In September, the library will celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month. Residents are encouraged to obtain a library card to access books, digital resources and opportunities for learning and growth.

Patrons can preview the AspenCat system by visiting the Mancos or Dolores libraries or viewing the system on their online catalogs. For more information, contact Edson at bedson@cortezco.gov or call (970) 564-4072.
