The Cortez Police Department, in collaboration with Bohannan-Huston Inc., will present its Safety Action Plan Resolution to the Cortez City Council on May 27 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 123 Roger Smith Ave., and will outline an “ambitious” initiative targeting zero traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2045.
The plan, developed with public participation, incorporates more than 1,100 comments and suggestions gathered through surveys, focus groups and a public open house.
“More than 1,100 comments and suggestions, survey contributions, along with your attendance at the focus groups and public open house, have been instrumental in shaping this important safety planning initiative,” said an email from public information officer Kelly Codner.
The Safety Action Plan focuses on preventing deaths and serious injuries by addressing key areas of concern identified through community feedback. Details will be shared at the council meeting.
Residents may attend the May 27 meeting in person or via livestream at www.cortezco.gov/497/city-council-live-stream. The agenda placement for the presentation will be confirmed by May 23. The full Safety Action Plan is also available for public review online at www.cortezsafestreets.com.
