Cortez native returns home and opens Axl’s Glass downtown

Vickie Medina has opened Axl’s Glass, which is named after her dog, Axl.

Cortez native Vickie Medina has returned home to open Axl’s Glass in a warehouse at 42 North Beech St. in Cortez.

The new business offers windshield replacement, rock-chip repair and window-regulator repairs. Window-tinting services may be offered as well.

“We can replace or fix windows and glass on any vehicle including new models, RV’s, semi trucks, camper shells, and classic cars and trucks,” Medina said.

After a 14-year career in the medical field, Medina said she decided to come home and pursue a business dream in the automotive field.

“I’ve always loved cars, especially muscle cars,” she says. “I have a lot of experience in the field, and I’m so happy to be back home closer to family.”

Dedication to customer service sets Axl’s Glass apart from the competition, Medina says.

“We accommodate people’s schedules, work late, and will travel to where the customer is to get the job done,” she said, adding that weekend appointments are available.

Estimates are free. Military veterans and active service members receive a 20 percent discount.

A friendly puppy, Axl, is Medina’s business partner and company mascot.

“It’s hard to come up with a business name, so I went with Axl!” she says. “He brings in business and loves to greet the customers.”

A grand opening is scheduled for August 9 beginning at 8 a.m. Their phone number is (970) 560-5623,
