Cortez library plans Craftapalooza day

The Journal

The Cortez Public Library plans a free crafts day on Friday, Sept. 29 from noon to 3 p.m.

During the event, dubbed Craftapalooza, kids may make noodle log cabins, miniature birdhouses and cooked goods, learn about food shopping, and play outdoor games.

The miniature bird house class and the cooking class are limited in size, said children’s librarian Laura McHenry. The miniatures class is age-specific, and the cooking class involves parent/child teams. There is a sign-up sheet at the circulation desk at the library. You may sign up anytime prior to the Craftapalooza until the classes are filled at http://bit.ly/2jLiSWv.

The library also plans activities that don’t require registration.

Participants include Piñon Project Early Childhood Programs, the Four Corners Miniatures Club and Cooking Matters Southwest Colorado. Papa Murphy’s pizza shop is providing reading incentive certificates, and Aaron’s lease-to-own shop is providing bottled water.

The library is at 202 N. Park St. For more information, call 970-565-8117.
