Cortez library launches reading and entertainment series

The Cortez Public Library’s summer reading program focuses on health this year with the theme, “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read.” The program runs May 25 through Aug. 20.

Participants may pick up a reading log anytime at the library, 202 N. Park St., Cortez.

The library also plans to maintain logs for children ages 0-6 and 7-12 and for teens.

The library’s Family Entertainment Series runs Tuesdays at 2 p.m. from June 7 through July 12. The series schedule follows:

June 7: Denise Gard and her Border Collie, Sienna, explore animal tales from around the worldJune 14: Kate O’Kami uses limberjack puppets and storytelling for an hour of entertainment, followed by a workshopJune 21: Internationally acclaimed magician Eli returns, followed by a workshopJune 28: Luke Renner brings yo-yos and magicJuly 5: Salida Circus hosts its Olympic GamesJuly 12: Rocky Mountain Puppets climbs Mount Healthmore for a grand finale to the seriesThe library will sponsor a drawing for a prize at the end of the program.
