Organizers of the Cortez Farmers Market expect more vendors and higher turnout this year as the event opens next month.

The market will run on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 6 through p Oct. 31. The starting time will change for the month of October, with most vendors starting to sell at 8:30 a.m.

The market will offer staples such as fresh vegetables, eggs, beans, local meats and prepared food and beverages.

According to Market Manager Julie Periman, customers can expect to see at least 40 booths, with 15 of them being new to the market.

“It’s not as full as we used to get it, but it’s getting closer,” Periman said.

The event was limited to roughly 30 vendors last year because of pacing rules between booths.

“It’s more relaxed. We just need 6 feet between people, as far as customers go,” Periman said.

Returning vendors include SongHaven Farm, Summit Roots Farm and Berto Farm & Ranch.

New offerings from vendors range from selling mushrooms or croissants to compost and worms.

Curbside delivery will continue to be offered this year.

The market will be in the Montezuma County Courthouse parking lot, at the southwest corner of West Main Street and South Elm Street.

The market accepts debit and credit cards, as well as electronic benefit transfer.

“We’re definitely excited and looking forward to the new season,” Periman said.
