The city of Cortez is seeking applicants for several municipal positions and preparing for its upcoming municipal election.
The city has posted three employment listings: parks superintendent, facilities-maintenance technician and refuse collector.
The parks superintendent will plan, lead and manage the city’s Parks Maintenance Division to ensure parks, facilities, trails, open spaces, ponds and other areas remain safe, clean and well maintained.
The facilities-maintenance technician will perform general maintenance and repairs on city buildings, and the refuse collector will collect trash along assigned routes and assist with unloading trash at the landfill.

Petitions and certificates of nomination for City Council candidates are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 26 at City Hall. Questions may be directed to Danielle Wells at (970) 565-3402.
City Council meetings are set for Jan. 13 and Jan. 27, both at 7:30 p.m. Residents can attend in person or view live and recorded streams at cortezco.gov/497/city-council-live-stream.
City offices will be closed Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
