The Mother's Day Plant Sale is 3-4:30 p.m. in front of the Dolores Elementary School. For sale: teas and spice mixes, potted narcissus flowers, various starts, and more, all packaged and cared for by the Dolores Elementary and Middle School students. Baby-sitting Course, 9 a.m. to noon at Southwest Memorial Hospital Kiva Room. Meet in the cafeteria. Designed for ages 11-15 to learn Basic First Aid, Basic Child and infant CPR and baby-sitting skills. Cost: $30, with all proceeds going to the Montelores Cancer Fund.

Sunday, May 10

Mt. Lookout Grange, at 680 Grand Ave., hosts a Mothers Day and May Pole Celebration beginning at 3 p.m. Live music by the Mancos Blue Jays Band and the Grange's acoustic jam group, a cake walk and May pole dance. Snacks and local beer will be offered, and the event is followed by the Grange's monthly community dinner starting at 6 p.m. All are welcome.

Cortez Historic Preservation Day features two presentations at the new Sunflower Theater at 2 E. Main Street: at 10 a.m., "Our Stone Buildings: Past, Present, and Future"; and at 4 p.m., the listing of the Gold Medal Orchard in McElmo Canyon on Colorado's List of Endangered Places, featuring Jude Schuenemeyer.
