The Colorado State Patrol announced Tuesday that it will lead a task force of law enforcement agencies to crack down on DUI cases in Douglas and Arapahoe counties Saturday through Sunday morning, April 18-19.
The operation will patrol major traffic corridors and feeder roads, focusing on any observed or reported dangerous driving behavior, the news release said.
The enforcement effort comes amid a persistent number of impaired-driving crashes in the two counties.
According to the State Patrol, troopers investigated 788 crashes involving impaired drivers in Douglas and Arapahoe counties between 2021 and 2025. In 2025 alone, troopers investigated 129 impaired-driving crashes, including six fatalities and 27 crashes that caused injuries.
The State Patrol asks residents to report suspected impaired drivers by pulling over to a safe location and calling *CSP (*277) or 9-1-1. Callers should be prepared to provide a vehicle description, license plate number, location and direction of travel, a driver description and the observed driving behavior.
Participating agencies include the Colorado State Patrol DUI Task Force – Pikes Peak Regional Team, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Lone Tree Police Department, the Castle Rock Police Department and the Aurora Police Department.
