The Colorado State Patrol is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 46-year-old woman hospitalized.

According to a Monday news release, the woman was walking on the south shoulder of Vista Boulevard near U.S. Highway 160 southwest of Pagosa Springs about 8:30 p.m. March 6. She was hit by a car and sent into the ditch on the side of the road, and the vehicle did not stop.

“An unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on Vista Boulevard when it struck the female pedestrian,” the release said. “The pedestrian propelled upward and ended up in a drainage ditch off the roadway. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.”

The woman’s condition was unavailable Monday.

Initially, the vehicle was not identified. However, after investigators obtained security footage, a newer-model white Dodge Challenger with front-end damage was identified as the suspect vehicle.

Colorado State Patrol spokesman Gabriel Molter said investigators are reviewing security footage captured by local businesses or other locations where cameras were present and any witness testimony they receive.

“(Investigators will be) doing follow up investigation and following any leads that they might be able to get from anything that they have, including from witness statements, potential witness statements or anybody that may believe they saw what occurred,” Molter said.

The release urged anyone who may have seen the vehicle to report their information to the Colorado State Patrol Dispatch Center at (970) 249-4392, and to reference case number VC260065.
