Colorado Plateau Growers Inc. plans another seed giveaway on Saturday, April 30 from 2-5 p.m. at the Colorado Visitors Center on the corner of Mildred Road and E. Main Street in Cortez.

The group said that nearly 100 people attended its second annual Seed Giveaway on Tuesday, March 22 at Nero’s Restaurant.

According to a survey taken by 75 participants at the March 22 giveaway, Colorado Plateau Growers said that 90 percent of participants were over the age of 40, 98 percent were registered voters, 95 percent opposed the Montezuma County law that makes growing, processing and testing of cannabis illegal, 90 percent would vote for total legalization of all forms of cannabis, 95 percent wouldn’t support local dispensaries if they could obtain their own seeds, 98 percent would participate in a farmer-owned nonprofit co-op, and 5 percent said they used cannabis solely for recreation.
