College celebrates Arbor Day

San Juan College will celebrate Arbor Day for the fifth year in a row, by giving away free tree seedlings to the community at 8 a.m. on Friday, April 26, near the Cultural Center, the participating community are advised to use parking Lot F.

In a news release from San Juan College, it is stated that some 1,000 trees in several oak varieties, pinon, desert willow, and more will be available to community members and students for this year’s giveaway. Trees will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and as a courtesy to the community are limited to one per person. Experts will be on site to provide information on tree planting and care.

San Juan College was first designated as a Tree Campus Higher Education campus in 2020 by the National Arbor Day Foundation, a national honor and a selective application process.
