Charges against Ignacio man accused of assault in 2024 are dismissed

Accuser did not cooperate with prosecutors, records say
Jordan Nunez-McClanahan

The San Juan County District Attorney’s Office has dismissed all charges against an Ignacio man who had been accused of aggravated assault and harassment in 2024.

The DA’s Office on Sept. 27, 2024, filed a nolle prosequi order dismissing the charges against Jordan Nunez-McClanahan, now 40, after the alleged victim did not cooperate with prosecutors, according to court records.

Angela McClanahan, the wife of Nunez-McClanahan, sent a letter to the Tri-City Record on March 31 stating that the charges were dropped and claiming that the allegations stemmed from a dispute over residency and use of the property.

Angela McClanahan hand-delivered a 30-day notice to terminate the rental agreement to James Morrow on May 25, 2024, according to court records. That was 22 days after the alleged aggravated assault was reported.

Nunez-McClanahan was accused on May 3, 2024, of threatening Morrow “with a pitchfork,” according to court records.

Morrow told police he had been “having issues” with Nunez-McClanahan. He also claimed Nunez-McClanahan made threats “to kill” him. Two witnesses reportedly said they also heard the alleged threats, according to the probable cause statement.

The claims were dismissed, according to the nolle prosequi, because “the victim in this case has not cooperated with the prosecution” and “failed to appear for the scheduled witness interview held in this matter,” court records state.
