SCAPE accepting applications
The Southwest Colorado Accelerator Program for Entrepreneurs (SCAPE) is accepting applications for the January 2015 program.
SCAPE supports the creation and development of job creating companies in Southwest Colorado by offering an Accelerator Program, which provides funding, education and intense mentoring.
SCAPE helps grow startup companies or take established businesses to the next level. Each company is eligible for an equity investment to build a company, along with free office space. Most importantly, they receive valuable mentorship to help them address the specific challenges that they face in establishing and growing their company. The program length, curriculum focus and investment options are flexible depending on the needs of your business.

Region 9 announces new board members
The Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado announces additions to its board of directors: Lana Hancock, Larry Don Suckla and Clint Alley.
Hancock is the administrator for the town of Dolores, and will represent Dolores. Suckla is a Montezuma County commissioner, and Alley serves as a trustee for the town of Pagosa Springs. They were elected at Region 9’s annual meeting, Sept. 25.
Region 9 is a public/private partnership that promotes and coordinates economic development efforts in five Colorado counties. The Region 9 Board of Directors is made up of representatives from the 17 local governmental jurisdictions and nine members from the private sector. The next board meeting will be Jan. 22, 2015.

Dolores River partnership receives state award
The Dolores River Restoration Partnership has been selected as the winner of the 2014 Colorado Collaboration Award, a $50,000 prize that recognizes excellence and innovation in nonprofit partnerships.
The partnership is a coalition of federal land management agencies, county and state governments, landowners, nonprofit organizations, students, conservation groups, volunteers and other stakeholders.
The group’s goal is a Dolores River system that is ecologically, socially and economically sustainable.
The partnership intends to use the award money to leverage additional contributions and establish a fund that will support restoration work and long-term stewardship of the Dolores River.
The Colorado Collaboration Award is a prize offered annually by a group of foundations and corporate funders to an outstanding nonprofit collaboration.

You can recycle your tin and steel
The city of Cortez Recycling Division is accepting tin and steel cans on residential recycling routes. Tin and steel cans should be separated from the aluminum cans.
It is planned to place a separate tin/steel dumpster at the recycling drop-off center in the industrial park at the City Service Center, 110 West Progress Circle.
