Town reminds residents to deter theft from autos

The Mancos Marshal’s Office and Town of Mancos remind residents to lock their doors after removing valuables from their vehicles.

The town has had a recent spate of thefts of purses and tools from unlocked vehicles

Help prevent these crimes by observing the following:

Don’t leave your car running while unattended.

Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle. If you do, hide them or place them in the trunk before reaching your destination.

Park in well lit areas

Take your keys with you.

Lock doors and close windows.

Report suspicious activity to the Marshal’s Office, 565-8454.

Distillery hosts acoustic rock musician Brown

The Mancos Valley Distillery presents Justin Brown and his acoustic rock, Saturday, Dec. 12.

Doors open 5 p.m., and music starts at 6 p.m. Cover charge is $3, and cocktail specials will be available.

Brown was heavily influenced by Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, then xpanded his tastes into jazz, bluegrass, and classic blues. With 20-plus years on guitar, he has become a well-rounded player who incorporates sounds that have influenced his playing style.

Brown lives in the Farmington area and is part of the band Secondhand Strings.

Giving Tree project is in full swing

The Giving Tree Project is in full swing in Mancos.

Trees are at the library, P&D Grocery, Dolores State Bank, Zuma Natural Foods and Columbine Bar.

Stop in, choose an ornament and shop for that person.

Cash donations are also accepted those who can’t do the shopping or want to contribute to a food basket.
