County landfill hosts food drive

The Montezuma County landfill will be hosting a food drive on Saturday, Oct. 3. In lieu of payment for dumping, customers can pay with nonperishable food items that will be donated to the Good Samaritan Center.

League to discuss hospital expansion

The League of Women Voters will meet Saturday, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m., at the Community Room of the Hospital Annex Building at 20 S. Market St. in Cortez to learn about the hospital expansion plan.

Southwest Memorial Hospital CEO Kent Rogers and Hospital Board President Judy Schuenemeyer will discuss the expansion and answer questions. Bring brunch items to share. Coffee and juices will be provided.

Orchard Project plans social for Oct. 10

The Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project invites the public to an orchard social on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cortez Middle School’s Garden & Orchard, corner of Maple Street and U.S. Highway 160.

Admission is free, and donations are gladly accepted.
