Police investigate robbery

The Cortez Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred at City Market Wednesday at about 5 p.m. According to reports from the department, a male subject entered City Market and passed the clerk a note.

Cortez Police Department Public Information Officer Angelia Young said there was not a weapon used in the robbery and that no one was injured.

No arrests have been made and the police revealed very few details about the robbery because of an ongoing investigation.

Dolores ski swap set for Nov. 7-8

The Dolores Ski and Sports Swap will be held Nov. 7 and 8 at the Dolores Community center.

Drop off your equipment from 4-8 p.m. Friday Nov. 7. The gear sale is Saturday Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hesperus ski swap takes place Saturday

The 51st annual Hesperus Ski Patrol Ski Swap will take place 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. Merchandise check-in will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the Ski Hesperus website.

Ski passes also will be sold at a discounted rate at the swap.

The Collaborative has studio space

The Collaborative, a working studio for a collection of artists, craftspeople, makers, and educators, located in a 5,400-square-foot loft at 25 N. Beech St., provides a studio or working environment that fosters interaction and collaboration to share vision, creative energy and inspiration.

The Collaborative Studio has 10-by-10 foot studios for rent, instruction, galleries and gathering spaces.

Short film ‘Resilient’ premiere planned

The National Young Farmers Coalition has announced the premiere of “Resilient: Soil, Water & the New Stewards of the American West,” a short film by the National Young Farmers Coalition, produced by Rumplefarm Films in partnership with the Lexicon of Sustainability.

“Resilient” illustrates how soil health works with efficient technology to save water and improve agricultural productivity. It emphasizes the integral role farmers and ranchers play in solving western water solutions.
