Brett Aprahamian’s preliminary hearing moved to Dec. 14

Aprahamian face preliminary hearings on Dec. 14 and sentencing on Dec. 21

Brett Aprahamian on Thursday received a preliminary hearing date for two of his cases after his counsel said they wished to waive advisement and were willing to move outside of the 35-day mark for his case.

Aprahamian, who faces more than a dozen charges, was arrested in September on suspicion of armed robbery after a man was robbed and a vehicle stolen near Aneth Lodge.

At his 1:30 p.m. court appearance in Judge William Furse’s courtroom, Aprahamian was set to appear for return on summary for revoke of probation, return filing of charges and hearing on bond as well as a preliminary hearing for his case.

After waiving advisement and receiving an extension for more time on the plea deal offer, Aprahamian was given a preliminary hearing date for case 23CR210. In that case, he faces charges including includes obstructing governmental operations, aggravated robbery, reckless driving, second-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, reckless endangerment, DUI, and driving a vehicle when license revoked as a habitual offender. In case 23CR238, he is accused of second-degree assault.

He also has a hearing on probation set for 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14.

Additionally, he will appear at 9 a.m. on Dec. 21 for his sentencing in case 23CR106 – third-degree assault, harrassment, obstructing a peace officer and unlawful possession.

According to police, Aprahamian robbed Jacob Begley near the Aneth Lodge on Sept. 26, taking his wallet, phone and tobacco before stealing an unlocked vehicle.

Aprahamian led police on a chase before crashing into officer Jason Giacchino’s patrol car near East Empire Street.

Once he was apprehended, Aprahamian was found to have a small bag of meth on his person, as well as the knife allegedly used to rob Begley.

Aprahamian was charged with a felony for aggravated robbery, vehicular eluding, first-degree motor vehicle theft, reckless endangerment, DUI, aggravated HTO, protection order violation, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, obstruction, first-degree criminal trespass, failure to display lamps when required, operating a vehicle when the seat belt was not securely fastened and failing to drive in a designated lane.
