The Bayfield High School Athletic Department announced the appointment of Glenn Wallace as the school’s new head football coach on Friday. Wallace will also work as a physical education teacher at Bayfield High School.

“I am very excited to welcome Glenn Wallace to the Bayfield Family,” said BHS Athletic Director Andy Duffy. “His enthusiasm and small-town values make him a perfect fit for Bayfield and the Wolverine Way.”

Wallace grew up in Strasburg, Colorado, and graduated from Strasburg High School in 2013. In 2017, Wallace graduated with a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics Education from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.

Wallace brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to teaching in the classroom and the sport of football, according to a news release. As both a player and a coach, Wallace has been heavily involved with a football program every season since the age of 5. He played football for Strasburg High School and the Hastings College Broncos.

After graduating college, Wallace taught at Byers High School in Byers, Colorado, and was the offensive coordinator for the football program. During his second season, Byers had the No. 5 ranked passing offense in eight-man football.

After two years at Byers, Wallace followed Strasburg head coach Jeff Giger to Brighton High School, where he worked as a quarterback and wide receiver coach.

Wallace said he has learned more about football during his first four seasons coaching than he ever did as a player.

“I am extremely passionate about being a part of a successful program and cannot wait to meet and work with the fine young men of Bayfield High School,” Wallace said. “I am very passionate about teaching health and physical education. As a coach and PE teacher, you have the opportunity to reach young people in multiple areas of their life, and you can teach them a large amount about what it means to be successful.”
