Axis Health System in Cortez has a new physician.

Dr. David Ryan practices family medicine, including for newborns.

Ryan grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. He graduated from Des Moines University with a Doctor of Osteopathy in 2001. He and his wife have seven children.

“Dr. Ryan is a compassionate and committed physician” said Axis Health System Chief Medical Officer Dr. Luke Casias, in a news release.

Ryan joins the Axis Health System’s primary care team, which includes family nurse practitioners Kirsten Howell, Justine Smith and Shawna Yates.

New patients are being accepted and there are a variety of payment options, including Medicaid, CHP+, and most insurance. A sliding-fee scale is available for those who qualify.
