Awful, but you can’t look away

Editor:

I just finished reading Larry Tradlener’s column about the Keystone Kops. I find reading Mr. Tradlener’s work is a lot like watching a grade B horror movie. You know it’s trash, fiction and badly done, but you watch it anyway. Sometimes you close one eye and squint through the other as it’s so bad.

I personally thought our agencies did a good job, killed or caught the bad guys in less than a week. Could some things have been done better? Of course; we learn by our mistakes and keep on improving our systems. Hopefully those improvements don’t infringe on our freedoms, like the Bush and Cheney policies did and still do.

Where were Tradlener and the other conservatives who always write putting down anything Democrats do during the Bush years? Now there were truly Keystone Kops!

How about weapons of mass destruction, the Iraq war that we and the Iraqis will pay for in human cost for generations to come, Katrina, bailouts, giving our public lands away to their friends in industry, and on and on? How about their beloved President Reagan when he was responsible for the death of almost 300 Marines, then making us run away with our tail between our legs, not to mention him sleeping through most of his second term and other mistakes that Clinton had to bail us out of?

I really like Texas Gov. Perry’s comments after the horrible explosion and loss of life and property: how Texans would rather forgo safety rather than be regulated. He for sure was not the smartest of a group of not-very-smart conservatives who ran for president.

Conservatives’ hatred of government, regulations, civil rights for anyone that isn’t white and Christian, and climate change, to mention a few of their backward ideological beliefs, would bring us back to the Dark Ages. Excuse me, I should say a very polluted Dark Ages.
