In response to Maddy Butcher (Journal, Nov. 18):

Ms. Butcher, as a “new” resident of Mancos I would like to point out that the welcome mat is something anyone can put out or take in.

The Mancos Grange is a place open to all. It is an old institution with a mix of old and new farmers and others. Every second Sunday there is an open dinner for all. It is not political, but a service to the community.

Look a little deeper – past a care that may or may not have had it’s origin in Mancos.
