Amendment 69 will bring savings, jobs

I am for Amendment 69, ColoradoCare, a single-payer universal health care system for all Colorado residents that will be offered on this November’s ballot.

The current cost of medical insurance for Coloradans is 31.2 billion dollars. Under Amendment 69, ColoradoCare will have a projected savings of 4.5 billion dollars, while providing premium inclusive medical insurance for all residents with never a loss of coverage.

ColoradoCare would also bring an estimated 31,720 jobs back into the state because it will be administered here in Colorado.

Why, you may ask, is there a massive pushback to defeat this cost-effective, all-inclusive plan? Money is your answer. Simply, the insurance companies don’t want to let go of this golden goose.

Coloradans for Colorado is the main lobbying organization focused on defeating this measure. It is neither based in Colorado nor does it represent Coloradans. It is funded by mega medical insurance companies and other corporate donors. In fact, 99.85 percent of its funds come from corporations. It amassed one million dollars in the first quarter of 2016 to fight Amendment 69. Its largest contributor is Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield which donated $500,000.

Don’t let corporations with vested interests continue to overcharge you and control your health care options. Join me in voting for Amendment 69, ColoradoCare, on November 8.
