Amendment 69 is a win-win for Colorado

Reading that Club 20 (and J. Paul Brown) denounces Amendment 69, universal health care for Colorado, is no surprise. What do you expect from ultra-conservatives?

They say there will be no accountability of the 21-member elected board. What do they think having an elected board means? If you don’t like what your board member is doing, you vote him or her out. Every county will have a vote on who will be on the board to represent its interests.

They cry another tax. What do you think the high premiums, co-pays and deductibles are if not a tax on our incomes? Premiums are expected to go up another 30 percent this year alone. Our police, schools, roads, fire departments and any other necessary functions are supported by taxpayers; sometimes you use them, sometimes you don’t, but they benefit all of us at some point, so all of us should pay for them.

This amendment will save everyone money: employers, employees, retirees and low and high income families. I am a vet with full medical from the VA, but I carry a supplement so I have options. This supplement costs me over $160 per month and that is without Medicare and Part B added on. With Amendment 69, this supplement will go away for me and I will pay less than what I pay now.

The only ones who will suffer from this amendment are the insurance companies. It will give the people of Colorado quality healthcare for everyone.

Everyone will be covered. You can bet you will see lots of false statements from the insurance companies and the politicians they support.

Lets put our medical care where it belongs, back in our doctors’ hands and not in the hands of the insurance companies. Do your own research. Go to the website and read the amendment, Ask questions. Do not listen to political parties that are against anything public.

This is a win-win for Colorado and we can be leaders in our country.
