The $700,000 All American Derby, which along with the Oaks, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 3, is part of a massive weekend of stakes races on closing weekend at Ruidoso Downs. The $3 million All American Futurity is the highlight race of the weekend, Monday, Sept. 4.

Keeton is coming off a banner weekend at Ruidoso Downs. Keeton qualified four runners for the All American Futurity when trials were held Friday and Saturday and will have three starters in the All American Derby including Sunday’s second fastest qualifier Getthere Fast and the seventh fastest qualifier Whiskey Creek.

Owned by Simmons Racing and ridden by Bryan Candanosa, Getthere Fast snapped a four-race losing streak when he won the ninth and final Derby trial, crossing the finish line in 21.295 seconds. The Texas-bred son of Tempting Dash earned his fourth win from nine career starts.

Whiskey Creek, winner of Sunday’s seventh Derby trial and also ridden by Pulido, earned the third win of his career from 10 starts. The Missouri-bred son of Apollitical Jess is owned by Wootan Racing.

Sicario V and Cyber Attack, winners of the Rainbow Derby and Ruidoso Derby respectively, earlier this season at Ruidoso Downs, also each earned a spot in the starting gate for the All American Derby.

Sicario V, winner of Sunday’s sixth trial heat, is trained by Santos Carrizales, Jr., who also trains Dark NME, who will likely be the prohibitive favorite for the All American Futurity. Sicario V, a son of Favorite Cartel, is a five-time winner from 11 career starts and earner of more than $862,000.

Cyber Attack, who finished fourth in Sunday’s eighth trial, is trained by Christopher O'Dell and is looking for his second stakes win of the year.
