I am writing to respond to an article in the Sept. 18 Cortez Journal entitled, “The true meaning of Christianity” by Fran Kruk.

There comes a time in our lives when we realize that God is not a Harley, nor a bottle of Jack Daniels, nor our next big business closing or romp in the hay. We come to the truth that Job proffered some 4,500 years ago: that God is immeasurable, unfathomable, and all in all.

It is then that we put away foolish things and move to manifest the kingdom of God through our lives, becoming ready vessels, willing to be led by the spirit of God to do the work of the lord here in this physical realm and also in the heretofore unseen spiritual world.

A pox on those preachers and prophets who tell us that we are not to put off our destructive and self-aggrandizing ways – that the kingdom is ours for a word or a coin. We are our brother’s keeper; there is a way unto man that leads to a fruitless, selfish, waste of life. We are admonished to live godly, holy lives so when we are called on by the one called God to intervene or intercede in the lives of others, we will be ready.

By grace we are redeemed to do the eternal work of the kingdom as grateful, mature believers. Jesus came as messiah in a time of great earthily trouble, not claiming to be God, but as the sent Son, calling on us to turn away from our wickedness and back to the spiritual rightness laid into our conscience by the spiritual father.

It is now for us to accept that great and glorious mantle.
