McDaniel Bros. to Be Tried, Telluride Soon

The jury in the case of the McDaniel brothers trial in Durango this week found the defendants guilty of murder and recommended life imprisonment for them both.

District Attorney James Noland asked that the sentence be deferred until the pair can by tried for the killing of Wes. W. Dunlap which will be in the second week of October at Telluride.

Cattle and Sheep Both Sell Strong on Denver Market

Receipts of 5,000 cattle at Denver Monday were cleaned up rapidly at steady to strong prices. 20,000 sheep found a ready outlet at prices steady to strong with the high close of the previous week during which period 10 cents range lambs appeared for the first time since 1930.

Brown Boy Killed, Mancos

Thurston Brown, son of Roe Brown well known in this community; was killed Sunday afternoon in Mancos when he was struck by an automobile driven by Mrs. Jack Boast, of Durango. The boy was playing in the street and is said to have run in front of the Boast machine and the accident is declared to have been unavoidable.

Dolores Application For PWA Project Disapproved

The Dolores water proposition has been disapproved according to word received here this week.

The project called for expenditure of $100,057 to completely rebuild the Dolores water system and the funds were asked for under the PWAS setup.

Higman-Milligan

Mr. Raymond Higman and Miss Mabel Milligan, both of the Beulah neighborhood were married early Sunday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Flanders in Dolores, Mr. Flanders officiating and using the single ring ceremony. The groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Higman of Cortez and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Milligan.

Athletic Field

Relief workers and students of Dolores high school have about completed the work of removing a number of cottonwood trees from the high school grounds and leveling the ground for an athletic field.

Plan is Sought to Aid Potato AAA Program

Since funds to administer the potato adjustment program were to have been provided in the third deficiency bill, which was filibustered to death, the AAA is taking steps to procure funds from other sources to start the program.

Lebanon Items

Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor were visiting at the Pritchett home Sunday.

Alva Edwards and Ernest Bass were weekend visitors at home. They are working at the May Day mine in the La Plata's.

Billy Wedell is helping hay at Wade McMillian's and Oniea Bass at the Campbell home.

Mr. and Mrs. George Wedell spent Sunday afternoon at Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy Roelfs in Dolores.

Mrs. Blanche Largent of Cortez, called at the Fred Harrel home Monday.

A baby boy was born to Mr. and Lee Harrel in California last week.

The Louis O'Dell and Mary Graham families left Sunday morning for Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the families will live, so their children can attend school and their logging trucks will haul at Porter, New Mexico.

The Smith and Elder threshing machine was in our community last week, however Darwin Goodall was the only one who threshed.

Guy Palmer was entertaining old man tonsillitis last week.

Estel Howard left Saturday for Belmear Mountain to help J. W. Melvin with the fence.
