For The Journal

The San Juan Mountains Association Bureau of Land Management’s Tres Rios Field Office celebrates National Trails Day by leading a family hike at Mud Springs south of Cortez on Saturday, June 4.

The hike begins at 10 a.m. and will explore wildflowers, plants and animals of Mud Springs. To get there, take U.S. Highway 491 and turn west on County Road G. Then drive three miles to County Road 21, and turn south. The Mud Springs parking lot is about a mile down the road.

Maps will be provided, and kids are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Dogs must be well-behaved, and on a leash.
