Class aims to help parents discuss sex with their kids

October is “Let’s Talk Month,” a month dedicated to parent-child communication. A free class for parents on how to effectively talk to youth about sex and sexuality will be offered by Planned Parenthood. This class seeks to increase healthful family relationships. It will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Mancos Library.

Students in Mancos have been attending health classes, and this would be a parent-focused session to help adults address: how to respond to difficult questions; how to be the person your child turns to; how to plan an effective conversation with a young person; exploring your values in a safe place.
