Landfill to close early on July 4 holiday

The Montezuma County Landfill will close by 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, for Independence Day. It will reopen to the public at 8 a.m. the next day, Friday, July 5. Other county offices will be closed all day July 4 and 5 for a four-day weekend in observance of Independence Day.

The landfill is open for customers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. There is a tardy fee of $25 per half hour for customers who are unloading on site after closing. For detailed information about disposal rates and acceptable materials for disposal, check out the county website.

Customers are reminded that electronics (televisions, computers, radios, and all accessories) are banned from Colorado landfills. The next scheduled electronic turn-in event for Montezuma County is October 25-26.
