6:10 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road X, Lewis, for a possible residential break-in. A tractor had been moved about 50 yards, a front window was open with the screen removed, a Native American vase had been moved from its usual spot, pillows on a bed were disturbed and keys to a truck were left on the seat with the ignition key broken and evidence of an unsuccessful hot-wiring attempt. Game cameras on the property were to be reviewed.
6:34 a.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, regarding a cold assault involving an inmate. The man allegedly got into a fight with another inmate, bit a jail deputy on the hand and struck him in the groin while being placed in a restraint chair. The man was charged with second-degree assault.
6:20 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Antique Corral, 6817 U.S. Highway 160, Cortez, on a Be on the Lookout (BOLO) for a possible drunk driver. The man reportedly failed roadside tests and had open alcohol containers in the vehicle. He allegedly made threatening statements and resisted at the hospital, including spitting on medical staff and kicking the deputy. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
10:42 p.m.: A deputy contacted a man walking in the 25000 block of County Road H while the deputy investigated livestock at large. The man allegedly gave a false name and date of birth, littered and was found holding a knife. He fled on foot after being ordered to put the knife down, and a TASER was deployed multiple times without effect. A warrant was sought for littering, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer and false reporting of identity.
3:05 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on County Road 25, Cortez, where the upper driver-door hinge on a truck had been cut with a metal-cutting instrument while the vehicle was parked overnight. No suspects or leads were identified.
7:32 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road N, Cortez, on a report of domestic violence. A woman said a man grabbed her by the neck, slammed her down and threw a shoe at her after an argument over money. Investigation, including a review of the man’s phone, found no supporting evidence and the case was closed as unfounded.
9:28 a.m.: A deputy responded to 7255 U.S. Hwy. 160-491, Cortez, on a report of vandalism to a Colorado State Patrol Port of Entry mobile van. The fuel line had been cut and gas siphoned. Camera footage and prior observations identified a man who had previously driven a matching suspect vehicle in the area. A warrant was sought for theft under $300, criminal mischief, obstructing government operations and second-degree criminal trespass.
12:30 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez, for a warrant service. A woman already in custody was served with a warrant.
10:20 a.m.: A deputy on patrol collected an Xbox found in a bush at the edge of the roadway near North Beech Street and East Empire Street, Cortez, and entered it as found property for safekeeping.
7:14 p.m.: A deputy responded to an open field in the 9000 block of Road 27, Cortez, after smoke was reported. A man was tending an uncovered fire in a barrel during an active county burn ban. He was issued a citation.
3:25 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., Cortez, for a remand to custody. A man already in custody was transferred to the Montezuma County Detention Center on a warrant.
