Montezuma-Cortez School District to host informational event on special education services

The event is open to all parents and guardians, even without a child in special education
The Montezuma-Cortez School District is hosting a special education event on July 22.

The Montezuma-Cortez School District is inviting district families to Partnering for Student Success: Understanding Special Education & Student Supports and Services, an event geared at growing understanding of special education and support services available to students across the district.

The event will take place July 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Middle School Library.

According to the district, the session will cover the district’s vision to help students succeed, explain academic, behavioral and socioemotional supports available for students, as well as give an overview of the district’s special education services. They will also delve into the referral and evaluation process for these services and discuss family and school collaboration strategies.

Families will be provided with the opportunity to ask questions and connect with staff. The event is open to all, even those who may not have a child in special education.

“Whether your child currently receives services or you simply want to learn more about the resources available in our schools, this evening is a great opportunity to gain information, ask questions and build connections with the people who support students every day,” the district said in a release.
