Fire decimated a trailer at Oak Meadows Mobile Home Park at 405 W. 7th St. in Cortez late Wednesday, seriously injuring the occupant, according to property manager Tim Wood.

According to Cortez dispatch, police received a call at 11:41 p.m. By the time they arrived, the trailer home was fully engulfed in flames. The resident, who Wood said was life-flighted to Denver, suffered burns across his body and went into a coma, which Wood said he awoke from Thursday.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Cortez police detectives.

“There’s just nothing left,” Wood said. “The house is a total loss.”

Wood added that three other mobile homes sustained damage from the fire but remain standing.
