Southwest Health celebrates Nikki Young’s Excellence in Nursing Award nomination

Colorado Nurses Foundation honors nurses making an impact in the profession

Southwest Health System recently announced the nomination of quality coordinator Nikki Young for the Excellence in Nursing Award from the Colorado Nurses Foundation.

The awards honor nurses across Colorado who demonstrate outstanding commitment, leadership and impact in their profession and communities. The foundation promotes nursing excellence while strengthening nurses’ leadership roles and supporting a sustainable health care system in Colorado.

Southwest Health said Young’s nomination reflects her work in quality improvement and lasting contributions, adding that Young is “known for her compassion, professionalism and unwavering commitment to excellence.”

Lisa Gates, SHS chief nursing officer, said Young consistently pairs clinical expertise with empathy, strengthening both patient care and the nursing team.

“Nikki embodies the very heart of our nursing profession,” Gates said. “Through acts of kindness, unwavering integrity and tireless service, she has been a trusted resource for both patients and peers.”

Southwest Health System also congratulated all nurses recognized by the Excellence in Nursing Awards for their dedication, leadership and commitment to their mission.
