I am proud to support Naomi Riess for House District 59. I have known Naomi for more than 20 years through our shared work in agriculture, the County Fair, horticulture programs and sustainable agriculture efforts in our community. Over that time, I have seen her consistently step up to do the kind of steady work that keeps our rural way of life strong.
Naomi has lived in La Plata County for more than 30 years, raising her family here and building a life deeply connected to this place. Naomi currently serves as chair of the Florida Mesa Planning District, where she works directly with the county on issues including irrigation infrastructure, agricultural production and responsible growth. She understands these challenges because she has taken the time to study them carefully and work through them with practical, thoughtful solutions.
Through her professional work in land-use research and consulting, she has also helped property owners navigate complex decisions, giving her a clear understanding of how policy impacts people on the ground.
This is a time when experience matters. Agriculture and water are under increasing pressure, and decisions at the state level are affecting our communities right now. We need someone who understands these issues from Day One and is ready to act.
As a fourth-generation La Plata County rancher, I value strong, knowledgeable leadership. Naomi Riess has the experience, commitment, and common sense to represent us well.
