Women singer-songwriters from Southwest Colorado are invited to audition for Season 3 of Amplified, a showcase for original work.

Auditions are April 30, at ZU Gallery, 48 W. Main St.

Each selected performer will be given 10 minutes to play two original songs, on a first-come, first-served basis. Professional sound will be provided by women-owned Abboe Sound, and a piano will be available.

Performances will be Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19, in Cortez. Solo artists and small ensembles are welcome. All material must be original.

The event, founded by physician and musician Amanda Mullen, a local physician and musician, is run by ZU Arts Initiative under executive director Jodi Jahrling.

“Southwest Colorado has women writing incredible songs that nobody outside this community has ever heard. Amplified exists to change that,” Jahrling said.

A panel of judges will select a Best of Show winner, and audience voting will determine a People’s Choice winner. Both winners will receive monetary prizes.

“Come as you are, bring your songs and know that you already belong here,” said co-producer Abi Wild Rose.

Reserve an audition slot by emailing grow@cortezarts.org. Artists unable to audition in person may submit a video of one original song, along with their name and hometown, by April 30.
