The Dolores and Cortez FFA chapters recently celebrated National FFA Week by promoting school spirit and increasing awareness about agriculture and the opportunities available through FFA. Throughout the week, members organized and hosted a variety of activities that involved both middle school and high school students, as well as staff across their school districts.

Students participated in themed dress-up days that encouraged school pride and participation in FFA Week. One popular day for Cortez included “’Merica Monday,” where FFA members showed their patriotism while serving pancakes for students and cookies for teachers. Members also showed appreciation for their community by delivering burritos to local first responders including firefighters, EMTs and police officers for community service day on Feb. 23.

At Dolores, students took part in a rubber duck scavenger hunt around campus. The activity encouraged students to search for hidden ducks throughout the school while learning more about agriculture and FFA.

Service and community involvement were also an important part of the week for this chapter. Dolores FFA members created and delivered bouquets of flowers to residents at Vista Mesa Assisted Living and Vista Grand Nursing Home. This project allowed members to give back to their community while sharing the positive message of agriculture and FFA.

One of the highlights of the week for both chapters was the highly competitive AG Olympics. Students competed in events such as a hay bale toss, obstacle course, pie eating contest and stick horse race. Classes competed against one another for bragging rights and the chance to earn special rewards, making the event both spirited and memorable for everyone involved.

Additional activities throughout the week included games organized by officers and members, classroom presentations about agriculture and leadership opportunities and a round of FFA-themed Jeopardy hosted by chapter officers in Cortez.

National FFA Week serves as an opportunity for members to celebrate agriculture, leadership and service while sharing the impact that FFA has on students and their communities. Both the Dolores and Cortez FFA chapters are proud of their members and officers for the hard work they put into making the week successful and for continuing to promote agriculture within their schools and communities.
