There was an officer-involved shooting at 9:30 a.m. today in the 1100 block of Hines Road.
Farmington Police were called to the location in response to a “domestic violence call involving an armed subject,” said Shanice Gonzales, police spokeswoman.
Officers shot at the suspect, who died at the scene, according to Gonzales, who added that “no officers or other individuals were injured during the incident.”
The suspect’s name as well as the names of the officers involved are being withheld at this time, as this “remains an open and active investigation,” Gonzales said.
Tri-City Record arrived on the scene at about 11:45 and was greeted by a San Juan County deputy, who asked that no photos be taken until detectives were available to speak with. Two deputies were across the street interviewing first one female followed by another female.
After about 20 minutes San Juan County Lt. Andrew Gilbert said photos were OK, but witnesses were not available to speak with because they had been through a lot.
The Tri-City Record will update this story when more information becomes available.
