League of Women Voters to host forum of City Council candidates

The League of Women Voters will host a candidate forum for Cortez City Council from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at City Hall, 123 Roger Smith Ave.

Residents will have a chance to meet candidates and hear their views on community issues.

Eleven candidates are seeking five seats on the council: Travis Shepherd, Kathleen Swope, Charles P. Borchini Jr., Michael Earl Bischoff, also known as “Gandolf,” Carly Wolf, Clarisa Osborn, Randy Vialpando, James McGinley, Bruce Burkett, Dennis Spruell and Claire West.

The first 90 minutes will feature a question-and-answer session in which all candidates will respond to the same questions. The final 30 minutes will include questions submitted by attendees and presented by the moderator.

A ballot issues forum also is scheduled for March 19 at the Cortez Public Library, with the time to be announced. The forum will provide information on measures appearing on the Cortez ballot.
