Encouraging American citizens in Cortez to be informed voters

Republican women have had several luncheons recently. The last one was well attended. We had plenty of food for twice the number of people. This one was for those running for county commissioner. (Those who live in the city also vote for commissioners.) Very good candidates spoke about what they would do if elected.

I have heard that the least likely to vote are Christians and gun owners. Really? I don’t understand that at all. The women Republicans and spouses work hard to have a nice luncheon (free), and the candidates who will be representing us come share their ideas. You cannot complain if you either vote “blindly” because you haven’t bothered to come find out what their plans are when elected, or you don’t plan to vote at all! I think you waive the right to complain if you haven’t voted or you just pushed Republican or Democrat. Honorable and good people are giving of their time and abilities to serve our community. They deserve to be heard and given the opportunity to have people care enough to listen.

After the meal, the candidates each speak. Then there is Q&A time. The candidates stay to meet and talk. Luncheons are every second Thursday at 11:30 a.m. To find our more, come to our headquarters – Republican Women of Montezuma County. You can sign up to receive an email about when and where the luncheons are and who will be speaking.
