So now we know. Now we know ICE was not just about immigration. Now, a white, suburban, U.S. citizen mother of three has been murdered. So now it is out there for all to see. This is about reining in anyone in our society who does not agree with the current regime’s beliefs and edicts. We are there: carbon copy of 1930s Germany.
I was moved by a Heather Cox Richardson article on 1/9/26 where she quotes from a pamphlet published by the U.S. War Department on 3/24/45 titled “FASCISM!”:
“The only way to stop the rise of fascism in the United States is by making our democracy work and by actively cooperating to preserve world peace and security.” In the midst of the insecurity of the modern world, the hatred at the root of fascism “fulfills a triple mission.” By dividing people, it weakens democracy. “By getting men to hate rather than to think,” it prevents them “from seeking the real cause and a democratic solution to the problem.” By falsely promising prosperity, it lures people to embrace its security.
“Fascism thrives on indifference and ignorance.” Freedom requires “being alert and on guard against the infringement not only of our own freedom but the freedom of every American. If we permit discrimination, prejudice, or hate to rob anyone of his democratic rights, our own freedom and all democracy is threatened.”
I encourage all to read the full pamphlet: U.S. War Department, “Army Talk 64: FASCISM!” Mar. 24, 1945: https://bit.ly/49vnWoX.
Now it is clear. Fascism is here.
